Summer Garden

 The Summer Garden was laid out by Peter the Great soon after the foundation of St. Petersburg. This magnificent Garden was laid out in the formal Baroque manner with numerous fountains. After a flood in 1777, the fountains were not replaced until just recently. Nowadays, the Summer Garden is an English-style landscape park, with old trees, a small lake, known to be an inspiration for Peter Tchaikovsky to compose music for the "Swan Lake" ballet.
