Pavlovsk its grounds cover an area of 1,500 acres making it one of the largest landscaped parks in all of Europe. In 1777, Catherine the Great gifted her son Paul with the lovely palace and the land, which then became one of the Tsar's summer residences. Although left in ruins after the World War Two, it was soon returned to its original splendor. The palace contains a vast collection of paintings and works of applied art as well as magnificent furniture collection and tapestries.
